PAC Based

nGauge Model

The nGauge is the latest system in the PAC based family. It was specifically designed from an industry request to create an affordable, cost effective, high speed and reliable non contact gauge system, based on off-the-shelf industrial PAC technology. From the first installation the nGauge has exceeded Customer's expectation. The core of the system is a PAC, a Programmable Automation Controller which is a 2 (or more) processors based device like a computer is, and it is basically a PC merged with a PLC, using multitasking capabilities to automate control of one or more pieces of equipment. The modular solution of the PAC system is the best compromise between our PC based and PLC based legacy models, merging the reliability of the PLC part with the intuitiveness of the PC. nGauge software is web based, easy to use and maintain and full of features and tools. It represents the most advanced and accurate system available on market, having inherited the merits from its predecessors and having eliminated the known defects. The system maximize the use of top quality and highly available components, including a versatile and flexible modular IO management system, a robust all in one computer (Real Time based kernel) and a modular IO rack. The software was specifically designed by LGE engineers to take advantage of high speed processor available in today's industry. The resultant is a modern and reliable modular system, extremely fast, well beyond the requirements of the most closed-loop mill control systems. This gauge is suitable for measuring the thickness of metals (ferrous and non ferrous), as well as plastics and ceramics. Easy to use, easy to maintain was the formula at the base of nGauge design. Ideal as input for AGC systems.

  • nGauge 30 - for thin aluminum strips (i.e. foils mills)
  • nGauge 75 - for cold thin steel process and finishining lines (i.e. tandem, electrolytic, recoiling)
  • nGauge 100 - for cold process lines (i.e. pickling, temper)

PC Based

D3Gauge Model

D3Gauge is a modern and reliable industrial gauge to measure thickness of flat products, online and with no contact with the material to be measured. D3Gauge is a X-Ray based measurement system built following the most restrictive safety rules. It is suitable to measure different kind of materials. It finds it's natural application on production lines of cold and hot steel and aluminum. D3Gauge was developed under the directives of maintenance users, taking care of critical points and eliminating time losses not compatible with modern production needs. The software shares only digital signals on Ethernet using Ethernet/iP, TCP/iP or UDP/iP. Signals are shared as numbers enclosed in a simple protocol. The name itself, "D3", is at the base of the concept. D is for digital, 3 is for the number of main peripherals which are digitally controlled by the main unit. The core is in charge to control input and output signals, as well as singal conditioning from sensors.


PLC Based

Perfecta Model

The Perfecta Gauge is the original PLC-based Thickness Gauge System. From the first installation in the late 90s, Perfecta customers have enjoyed the benefits delivered by the high reliability of the PLC. This system can be built from Allen Bradley, General Electric, Siemens, or Modicon PLCs (others available also). All critical gauge functions run through the PLC. A PC is usually included to act as the HMI device, but if the PC locks up for any reason, the gauge continues to function. Low cost of ownership is achieved due to the fact that many of the gauge components are off-the-shelf. Perfecta Gauges are installed all over the world in rolling mill applications.

We generally update systems containing obsolete PC or PLC components, electronic cabinets and other critical system components, allowing our customers to keep a good part of the working carpentries to save on installation costs and downtime. All measures can be delivered to the plant automation using analog output, hardwired digital output and/or via digital protocols. For best accuracy the system can receive line setup from Plant automation/PLC/upper levels (line speed, material thickness, etc) through protocol or manually by operator's HMI.
