The Cost effective inline thickness measurement: modern, rugged, reliable and safe. LGauge is the safest and modern alternative to X-Ray thickness gauges

Two different, standalone or complementary measurement principles to solve every industrial challenge in affordable way: choose the technology you really need.

Inline thickness control

Low-Budget Laser Thickness Gauging for Metals

Inline thickness measurement is critical in metal processing, but traditional X-ray gauges are expensive, require safety infrastructure, and demand specialized operators. LGE Engineering offers a smarter, more affordable alternative using non-contact optical technologies: laser triangulation and confocal chromatic sensors.

Laser triangulation is the most cost-effective solution for general metal thickness gauging. It uses two laser sensors mounted opposite each other above and below the moving material. Each sensor projects a laser spot onto the metal surface, and a camera detects the reflected light. By triangulating the position of each spot, the system calculates absolute thickness with micron-level accuracy. Thanks to mature, off the shelf components, this technology delivers high performance at a fraction of X-ray system costs making it ideal for slitting, cutting, and rolling lines.

For applications demanding extreme precision,,such as ultra-thin foils or coatings, confocal chromatic sensors are the preferred choice. These use white light and color-based focusing to achieve measurement uncertainties as low as 0.12 microns. While more expensive than triangulation, confocal systems provide the ultimate accuracy when production tolerances are exceptionally tight.

Architecture PAC based ,modular

LGE Engineering enhances cost-effectiveness through smart system design. Their PAC / PLC-based open architecture reduces both initial investment and long-term maintenance. They also offer modular solutions, from fixed single-point gauges to full traversing profile scanners, allowing customers to scale their investment according to their needs.

By combining affordable optical technologies with flexible, modular engineering, LGE enables metal manufacturers to achieve 100% inline quality control without the high costs and regulatory burdens of X-ray systems. The result is precise, reliable, and budget-friendly thickness measurement that helps producers "deliver better, faster, and cheaper" while maintaining competitive quality standards.
